ATTENTION -- ATTENTION -- ATTENTION -- ATTENTION -- ATTENTION -- ATTENTION
Dear customers from Switzerland, we would like to inform you about an important change in customs clearance for imports and exports with Switzerland.
Delivery to companies;
Due to the Ordinance on Statistics in Foreign Trade SR 632.14 (as of 1.1.2016) Art. 1 and 6, customs clearance (import as well as export) canonly be carried out bystating the UID number (company identification number - not to be confused with VAT identification number). This means that for each customs declaration, a UID number must be used analogous to the EORI number in the EU. The use of this UID number is manifold (identification, tax, declarant, TIN numbers etc. are successively replaced by this UID number) and Swiss entrepreneurs have been informed about the importance of this already some time ago. On the other hand, its use in the customs system was not known.
Timely customs clearance can only be guaranteed if the UID number to be used is already indicated on the customs documents. We recommend that suppliers indicate the UID number of the Swiss recipient on the invoice (as part of the address of the importer) or provide it in some other way in advance. It should be borne in mind that failure to provide the identification number will result in delays and additional costs.
Delivery to private individuals
Private individuals are exempt from this regulation. Here the customer must pay the import duty (export duty is included in the freight charges).
